Automatically Add First Comment on Facebook Posts

Overview

We've just rolled out a neat little feature that lets you add the first comment to your Facebook posts directly from Late. It's like having your cake and eating it too, but with comments. No more awkward silence after your post goes live!

What's New

This feature allows you to specify a first comment when creating a Facebook post. You can now add a comment alongside your post, making it easier to engage with your audience right from the get-go. But here's the catch: if you're an existing Late user, you'll need to disconnect and reconnect your Facebook account to approve new permissions. Yep, we’re asking for extra permissions now because, well, that's how Facebook rolls.

Once you've sorted that out, you'll find a new section for adding that first comment when you go to create a post. It’s simple: just type your comment in the optional field, hit publish, and voilà! Both your post and the first comment will be live. You can also use this for scheduled posts, so you can set it and forget it while still looking like a social media wizard.

Key Improvements

  • Add the first comment to Facebook posts directly from Late
  • Requires new permissions for existing users (don’t forget to reconnect!)
  • Also available for YouTube posts, with LinkedIn support coming soon
  • API support for adding first comments on Facebook

How to Use It

To use this feature, create a Facebook post as you usually would. Look for the new section labeled 'Facebook First Comment' where you can type in your comment. Once you publish, both your post and the first comment will go live simultaneously. Easy peasy!

What's Next

We’ll be rolling this out to LinkedIn soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that. More platforms, more comments, more fun!
